Wordle
4 min readThe Smart Wordle Strategy
Narrow 12,000 possibilities to one in five guesses or less.
The core idea
Wordle is an information game. Your first two guesses should cover 10 unique high-frequency letters — not try to guess the answer. Save guessing for turns 3+.
Tips that actually work
Open with coverage
Classic openers like SLATE + CRONY or CRANE + SPOIL test 10 common letters before you commit to a guess.
Mind letter positions
Yellow feedback tells you a letter exists but not where. Rotate it to an unused position on the next guess.
Do not waste guesses
If four letters are green, the remaining slot has at most 26 options — but often only 3 or 4 are real words.
Learn frequency
E, A, R, O, T, L, I, S, N, U appear in 70 percent of Wordle answers. Prioritize them early.
Put it into practice.
