What is Unscramble Words and how does it work?

Unscramble Words is a free online tool that finds every valid word you can spell from a set of letters. Type your letters — up to as many as you want — and we cross-check them against Scrabble, Words with Friends, and standard English dictionaries, then group and rank the matching words by length and point value.

Which dictionaries does Unscramble Words support?

We support Scrabble TWL (North American), SOWPODS (International Scrabble), Words with Friends, and a large Standard English dictionary. Switch between them in the dictionary selector at the top of the results panel.

Can I use wildcards or blank tiles?

Absolutely. Use ? or * for any blank tile. For example, TEST?? finds every word that fits two blanks added to the letters T, E, S, T.

How do I filter for words that start or end with specific letters?

Open the Advanced Filters panel. You can set "starts with", "ends with", "contains", require specific letters with "must include", and narrow by exact length or a length range — all at once.

Are the Scrabble and Words with Friends point values accurate?

Yes. Each word is scored with the official tile values for the selected game. Note that bonus squares (Double Letter, Triple Word, etc.) depend on where you play the word, so real in-game scores may differ.

Can I save or share my results?

Yes. Every search can be exported as plain text, or you can generate a permanent shareable link with one click. The link saves your letters, dictionary choice and filters so whoever you send it to sees the exact same results.

Why are some words missing a definition?

Definitions come from a live third-party dictionary API. Obscure Scrabble-only words (hello, QI and XU) do not always have an entry — the word is still valid for scoring, just uncommon enough that no one has bothered to define it online.

Is there a limit on how many letters I can enter?

No hard limit. The algorithm scales with the size of the dictionary, so very long inputs (15+ letters) can take a moment on a slower device — but you will still get every legal word.

How do I enable dark mode?

Tap the moon icon in the top right corner of any page. Your choice is saved on the device, so it persists the next time you visit.
